About the Great Reserve
The Great Reserve is the title of a 2-4 player tabletop board game which has players competing to be the first one to turn their family in to a great wildlife reserve.
The game was conceptualised in late 2017 by tabletop and video game enthusiast, and novice tabletop game designer, Brendan Ihmig. Prototyping and alpha testing were scheduled for early 2020 with a crowdfunding campaign planned for mid-2020, but these were postponed as a result of various challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Development is now scheduled to commence in Q2 of 2022, with proceeds from this NFT collection to be used to fund the further development of the game. A new crowdfunding campaign is now planned to launch in Q4 of 2022.
About the Artist
The Great Reserve TGR Pride of Lions NFT collection are the digital artworks of seasoned graphic designer and technology enthusiasts, Brendan Ihmig, from Namibia.
From the initial concept of the artwork to finalising the minting proces of each NFT, the TGR Pride of Lions NFT collection took Brendan 120+ hours to complete. The scope of the project was a personal challenge for him, as he suffers from a mild form of deuteranopia, a type of colourblindness.
With the help of specialised hardware and software tools, Brendan was able to navigate the colourful challenges of an artful design project of this nature. For him, this collection of NFTs represents the struggles we all have had to endure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

African Lion Facts
Lions are fascinating animals. Here are a few insightful facts about these majestic creatures.
- A lion’s Binomial name is Panthera leo, and is from Carnivora order of placental mammals that have specialized in primarily eating flesh, whose members are formally referred to as Carnivorans.
- The lion is the only member of the cat family that displays obvious sexual dimorphism with males having a prominent mane that covers most of the head, neck, shoulders, and chest.
- African lions live in scattered populations across sub-Saharan Africa. Lions prefer grassy plains and savannahs, brush near rivers and open woodlands with bushes.
Lions are the most social of all wild felid species and the only cats that live in a large social group known as a ‘pride’. A group of male lions is known as a ‘coalition’. - Lions have been categorised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN) as ‘Vulnerable’, threatened with extinction unless the circumstances threatening their survival and reproduction improve.
- Tanzania is the country with the highest number of lion populations in the wild. It is estimated that the USA has the highest number of lions in captivity.
